Do the revised benefits affect inpatient cancer drug treatment and services?

No, the changes on your Singlife Shield and Singlife Health Plus are only applicable to outpatient cancer drug treatment and services.

If my cancer drug treatment is on the CDL, will I still be covered?

MediShield Life and MediSave will only cover treatments on the CDL from 1 September 2022.

Singlife Shield with Singlife Health Plus will also only cover treatments on the CDL from 1 Apr 2023, when your existing policy is renewed or if you purchase a new Singlife Shield policy.

Eligible policyholders will receive transitional support to have sufficient time to adjust to the changes.

If my treatment is not on the CDL, will I still be covered?

Singlife Health Plus (except for Singlife Health Plus Deductible Cover) will cover non-CDL treatments under drug classes A to E of the Life Insurance Association, Singapore’s (LIA’s) Non-CDL Classification Framework. The Singlife Health Plus co-insurance cap of S$3,000 and S$12,750 will not apply to non-CDL treatments.

Singlife Shield will also not cover non-CDL treatments from 1 Apr 2023, when your existing policy is renewed or if you purchase a new Singlife Shield policy.

Eligible policyholders will receive transitional support to have sufficient time to adjust to the changes.

What if I am on multiple cancer drug treatments?

Patients who need more than one cancer drug treatment on the Cancer Drug List in a month may claim up to the higher of the MediShield Life, MediSave and Integrated Shield Plan claim limits applicable for the individual treatments, if they are prescribed according to the indications listed on the Cancer Drug List.

For example, if a patient uses both Drug Treatments Cisplatin (MediShield Life claim limit of $200 & MediSave withdrawal limit of $600) and vinorelbine (MediShield Life claim limit of $400 & MediSave withdrawal limit of $600) in a month, as per the indications on the Cancer Drug List, the patient may claim no more than $400 from MediShield Life and $600 from MediSave in that month to cover both cancer drug treatments. However, if multiple cancer treatments are used but not according to the indications on the Cancer Drug List, none of the treatments will be claimable, even if the individual treatments are listed on the Cancer Drug List.

Please refer to a summary table below:

CDL treatment (multiple drugs): Cisplatin and vinorelbine as adjuvant therapy for stage II non-small cell lung cancer

Plan:                            Singlife Shield + Singlife Health Plus^^

*Medishield Life claim limit is $200 per month for cisplatin and $400 per month for vinorelbine

Please consult your doctors if you wish to clarify the claim limit that will apply for your treatment.

How will the CDL affect my Singlife Shield plan and coverage?

When your Singlife Shield policy is renewed on or after 1 Apr 2023, the Outpatient Chemotherapy/ Immunotherapy benefit will be replaced with these two new benefits:

1.     Outpatient Cancer Drug Treatment benefit (CDL)

    a) Only cancer drug treatments on the CDL can be claimable, up to 5 times the treatment-specific MSHL claim limits.

    b) Selected non-CDL cancer drug treatments will be claimable under riders (i.e., Singlife Health Plus except for Singlife Health Plus Deductible Cover).

    c) If you are currently undergoing cancer drug treatment, please consult your doctor early to find out if your treatment is on the CDL.

2.     Outpatient Cancer Drug Services benefit

    a) Services that are part of a cancer drug treatment (including treatments not on the CDL), can be claimable, up to 5 times of MSHL claim limits.

    b) Services include consultations, scans, lab investigations, treatment preparation and administration, supportive care drugs and blood transfusions.

How will the CDL affect my Singlife Health Plus plan and coverage from 1 April 2023?

When your Singlife Health Plus policy is renewed on or after 1 April 2023, selected Outpatient Cancer Drug Treatments that are not claimable on the CDL will be covered under your Singlife Health Plus policy (except for Singlife Health Plus Deductible Cover) as follows:

1.     Additional Coverage for Outpatient Cancer Drug Treatment benefit (non-CDL)

    a) Non-CDL treatments under drug classes A to E of the Non-CDL Classification Framework by the Life Insurance Association, Singapore (LIA)2 will be covered under this benefit up to S$30,000 per policy year.

    b) The co-insurance cap of S$3,000 and S$12,750 will not apply to non-CDL treatments.

Will the co-insurance cap under my Singlife Health Plus policy apply to non-CDL treatments?

No, non-CDL treatments cannot be counted towards the co-insurance cap of S$3,000 and S$12,750 under your Singlife Health Plus policy.

Why are the changes in outpatient cancer drug treatment benefits not applicable to Singlife Health Plus Deductible Cover?

Singlife Health Plus Deductible Cover only provides coverage for 90% of Singlife Shield annual deductible. Outpatient Cancer Drugs benefits are therefore not available under Singlife Health Plus Deductible Cover.

Please note that Singlife Health Plus Deductible Cover option is only available through renewal of existing Deductible Cover policies. This deductible benefit is not available for Singlife Health Plus (previously known as MyShield Plus) policies effected from 1 July 2013.
